Potty training had been awful...we had tried several different times and it just didn't seem to click with her. With all the sickness I had throughout the first half of my pregnancy, I had abandoned it altogether for a while. Finally, at the beginning of May, we started pursuing it...WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Meaning...no more pull-ups (except for at night and during naps)...meaning, lots of messes for mommy to clean up! But, it worked. Within 2 weeks, she was staying dry for days at a time and by May 16, she had gone 4 days straight with no accidents. Originally, I thought we wouldn't get her ears pierced until she had gone much longer, but to a 2 year-old, 4 days is a LONG time! She actually woke up, peed on the potty and said, "OK, now can I get my ears pierced?" So, when Cody got home from work, it was off to the mall for us....
We let her pick out her earrings. She chose pink (of course) flowers. She was so excited!!!
Excited and ready!

Curiously watching the ladies get everything prepped...

Getting her ears cleaned.

Anticipation!

She was so brave...holding my hands while they did it.

She cried for all of two seconds and then was proud of her pierced ears...and her new "big girl" status!

Addison has done really well with potty training since then. She still has a few accidents every now and then, but they usually happen when she gets too busy to take time to use the potty and she doesn't make it there in time...or, she is not with mommy or daddy and is afraid to tell someone else that she needs to go (like at church or at the gym nursery). She's even wearing panties to sleep in for both nap and bedtime. I'm so glad we have one potty training phase behind us...and to be truthful, I'm not really looking forward to the next potty training time...but that's at least two years away! :)
Yay Addison! I was so glad when potty training was over for Kaleb and SO thankful that Allie had a long way to go before she was ready to begin! Whew! ;)
