Mrs. Fix-it

I typed this post up on May 20, and totally forgot to post it! I'm so proud of this accomplishment, that, it must be posted! Oh, and let me say, it totally fixed our problem. Although, we did have a little leak for a day because I didn't get the hose screwed back on tightly enough...but, Cody fixed that with a little muscle. :) That can just be our little secret...

We've had a little problem with our toilet for a while now....every time we flush the toilet (after it finishes re-filling), the pipes in the walls rattle. At first, it was just a tiny rattle that lasted a few seconds...but, it progressed to rattling loudly for 1-2 minutes after every flush! Well, Cody has been working long hours and I was starting to get worried that the pipes would bust from vibrating against each other. So, I decided to look for a fix.

First, I googled my problem. I found several different suggestions and decided to go with the easiest one first....replace the "ball-cock" fill valve with a newer "slow-fill" valve.

Next, I found a you-tube video with instructions on how to make the switch.

Then, I went to Lowe's to find said "slow-fill" valve and also to buy my very own channel-lock pliers to use for installation. Now, I have an arsenal of 2 tools--the pliers and a screwdriver! lol. But, that was all I needed...

The old "ball-cock" fill valve. Water drained.

Remove the hose from the water supply to the toilet....of course, I turned the water off first! (There was still a little left in the hose, so that's why you see some dripping.

Out with the old....

...in with the new.

Reconnect the hose and turn the water back on...Voila!
