20-Month Check-up

Addie was supposed to have a check-up at 18 months, but our Peds office is so busy that they block off January through mid-April for sick kids and brand-new babies only. So...her 18 month-check-up was today, just one week short of her 20-month mark.

Addison has grown a ton!! She is 31 inches (20th percentile) and 21 pounds (8th percentile)...I was really surprised by how much she had grown. Our nurse practitioner was very pleased with this and said that she had a huge growth spurt, going from not on the chart at 12 months to the 3rd percentile at 15 months to the 8th percentile at 20 months.

At her check-up, the NP also checks Addison's progress with motor skills and various cognitive skills. Addison passed these with "flying colors" too! Addison is speaking several 3-5 word sentences. Her favorite is, "I want some more, please." She wants more of...well, just about anything that has sugar in it. LOL. She doesn't always add the "please" on at the end, but we're working on that! She is a little parrot and will repeat just about everything we say. Addison is also able to count to three on her own and all the way to 10 with some help. If you can't tell...I'm one proud mama! ;)

They reminded me today and so I thought I would remind all of my readers...The AAP now recommends keeping your children rear-facing in their carseats until they reach the maximum height/weight of their carseat model or until they reach age 2. The old rule used to be 1 year and 20lbs. Be Safe!!
