Food is a subject that has been on my mind frequently...trying to come up with new meal ideas for some variety...trying to stick to a tight food budget (Thanks Dave Ramsey!)...trying to make sure that Addison gets a well-balanced diet of foods that will not cause her to choke (especially since I am weaning her from breastmilk)...and this is where it gets interesting.
It all started with a pickle. I gave her a bite. She made a funny face. I laughed and tried to give her another bite. She clamped her little mouth closed and shook her head "no." So, I thought, "No big deal...it's only a pickle. It's not like they have any nutritional value anyway." Since then, she has found many other foods that she doesn't "like," including some foods that she did previously. Believe me, it's hard to get a (VERY) stubborn 10-month old to eat something she doesn't like (but we do make her eat it...it's just not an easy task to accomplish).
Yesterday, while out grocery shopping with my mom and my sisteres, we decided to eat lunch at Arby's. While I was waiting for our food at the counter, Addison got a hold of one of those little paper cups full of Arby's sauce (Mom & my sisters were supposed to be watching her...LOL). She sucked a bunch of the sauce right out of the cup and, of course, left a trail of sauce all over her clothes, face, hair, highchair, and even her shoes.
Then, this morning, I let her try a new cereal for breakfast. I get a different kind every week, so we don't have to eat the same thing over and over. Mistake #1? I bought "Lucky Charms." Mistake #2? I, like always, sprinkled a handful of cereal all over her highchair tray, failing to separate the cereal. Result? You guessed it...she picked all the marshmallows out of the cereal. Then, when only the cereal was left, she started signing for "more." I told her, "You still have cereal right there on your tray." She never cried or anything, but when I looked back up from eating my cereal, there wasn't any on her tray anymore...it was all over the floor! So, I had to pick out more cereal, put it on her tray and make her eat it. Needless to say, next time, I will pick the marshmallows out first.
That cracks me up! You are not making mistakes, just learning new lessons:) I love you and can't wait to see you guys!
