Visiting the dentist

Today, Addison and I went to the dentist to get our teeth cleaned. She did such a great job...both sitting still while I had my teeth cleaned and being brave while having her teeth cleaned. She is getting so big. While the lady was cleaning my teeth, Addison jabbered on and on about anything and everything she could think of. She always wants to be involved in the conversation and if she feels left out, will insert whatever comment she can think of to be included again.

When it was her turn to climb up in the chair, she was really excited and proud. However, when they wanted to lean her back, she got a little nervous. But, she handled it like a champ...she bravely opened her mouth while they scraped and counted her teeth...20 total! Next, they polished and flossed her teeth. After that, she got to have them "painted" (that's what they call the fluoride application process for little kids). When all this was done, she sat up and said, "OK, I'm done now" and hopped out of the chair. I told her that the dentist still needed to come in and look at her teeth too...and, I made the mistake of saying it would be the same man that came in to look at my teeth earlier. I think it's because the dentist was male, but she got very scared and had great big tears in her eyes...a few rolled down her cheeks. So, we both climbed back into the chair and she obediently opened her mouth and let the dentist check her teeth too. I know she was scared, but I'm so proud of her for doing what she was told anyway. After that, she got to pick a toothbrush, a prize (small purple stuffed dog), and put her name on the "No Cavity" board. She wanted to write her name herself, so with my help, she wrote it on the board...and she knew how to spell it!! While we were writing it, she said, "A-D-D-I-S-O-N." I've been trying to teach her how to spell her name for a while, but she could usually only remember part of it and not all 7 letters...until today! I'm definitely a proud mommy!
